Laureate College STEAM & Gifted Arts Students Help Save Monarch Butterflies

Click here for more information: Visit website

Students at Laureate College’s STEAM and Gifted Arts programs are taking action to protect Monarch butterflies, whose migration—the largest on Earth—is at risk due to climate change and urban sprawl. Situated on 53 acres in the Halton region, Laureate College offers a unique setting for students to engage with nature and conservation efforts firsthand.

Through the Arts Council, students gain invaluable exposure to community initiatives, using their creativity to foster environmental awareness and advocacy. This hands-on involvement enriches their education while emphasizing the vital role of the arts in social and ecological causes.

Oakvillegreen's President Karen Brock (www.oakvillegreen.org) "Bring Monarchs Back" campaign is dedicated to restoring pollinator pathways and habitats for at-risk species. Thanks to the initiative of Bella Onay from Mom2MomBiz Network, Laureate College students—along with participants from the Adult Art Studio (Oakville Art Collective) and Afterschool Art Programs—will create and donate artworks to raise funds for this important cause. This community project aligns with some of Laureate College continued involvement on initiatives related to our environment. Keep in touch for more interesting and creative projects to come!

By merging science, art, and community action, Laureate College students are making a tangible impact. Their efforts demonstrate how education, creativity, and collaboration can drive meaningful change. To support Bring Monarchs Back, visit Oakvillegreen’s website and help preserve the Monarch butterfly’s awe-inspiring migration.

For anyone interested in participating in this ART project, please contact us at [email protected] and I will be glad to share more information on how all your family can be part of this.
