It’s also a pivotal moment to reflect on our ongoing journey towards true gender equality, understanding the challenges still faced by women in our communities and beyond.
Halton Women's Place invites you to commemorate this important day at our annual International Women’s Day Luncheon on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at the Holiday Inn Burlington. Why Commemorate International Women’s Day?
The roots of International Women’s Day trace back to 1908, when thousands of courageous garment workers marched in New York City, demanding better working conditions. Today, IWD continues this legacy by shining a light on both women's achievements and the inequalities that persist worldwide.
Each year, organizations around the world select themes to inspire positive change. For instance, UN Women’s 2024 theme is: “Invest in women: Accelerate progress.” Other organizations, like the IWD organization, call for us to “Inspire inclusion” and recognize the incredible breadth and diversity of women's contributions and experiences.
