Dan Muys was elected as the Member of Parliament for the Hamilton-area riding of Flamborough-Glanbrook in September 2021. He also serves as the Official Opposition’s Associate Shadow Minister for Transport.
Prior to seeking office, Dan had a 20-year career in the private sector in energy and agri-food. During that time Dan was part of a core team that helped develop successful bids for $10 Billion in energy infrastructure projects in Canada. He has also led communications on pivotal business transformation projects and helped launch market-leading brands on both sides of the border.
Dan grew up in Copetown, Ontario and has lived in Flamborough-Glanbrook most of his life. He also worked in Calgary, Alberta for nine years – where he met his wife, Tracy – as well as working for three years across the United States, based in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Dan knows how to get things done in government. He has been active in politics for over 30 years. He has worked on Parliament Hill, at Queen’s Park and lead campaigns for local MPs and MPPs – including David Sweet, his predecessor.
Dan is a member of his local Rotary Club and the Flamborough Chamber of Commerce. He has also served as President of the Hamilton chapter, the Calgary chapter and Chair of the National Governance Committee of the Canadian Public Relations Society at different points in his career.
Dan and Tracy live near Lynden, Ontario, and when they aren’t working, they enjoy taking their two energetic terriers Ally and Dani for hikes through the stunning local conservation trails and exploring the Royal Botanical Gardens – for which Dan was a member of the Board of Directors in 2020 and 2021.
