LETTER: YMCA staff and volunteers raise $67K during 'Long Walk Home'

After two days and 72 kilometers, they arrived at the Hamilton Downtown Family YMCA this afternoon by 3:20 p.m.

FlamboroughToday received the following Letter to the Editor about The Long Walk Home:

We are thrilled to announce that our walkers have successfully completed The Long Walk Home! After two days and 72 kilometers, they arrived at the Hamilton Downtown Family YMCA this afternoon by 3:20 p.m., marking the end of an inspiring and challenging journey in support of the men living in the YMCA Men's Residence.

We were grateful to have Mayor Marianne Meed Ward from the City of Burlington stop by the Ron Edwards Family YMCA in Burlington to cheer on the walkers, and we received positive wishes from Andrea Horwath, Mayor of Hamilton, Councillor Lisa Kearns (Ward 2, Burlington), and Councillor Ted McMeekin (Ward 15, Flamborough). Their encouragement and support for the cause have been truly motivating.

A huge congratulations to our incredible walkers—your dedication is truly inspiring! The donations continue to come in, and the overwhelming support from the community has been heartwarming. We have now raised over $67,000, surpassing our goal and directly supporting the needs of the men who live in the residence.

We’d like to extend a special thank you to Kelly Frapporti-Tobin for initiating this remarkable walk and bringing much-needed awareness to the needs of the men in our YMCA Men's Residence. Support for these men remains our top priority, and we are so grateful for the generosity and solidarity shown by everyone involved.

Thank you again to everyone, including our sponsors, who has supported The Long Walk Home and the YMCA Men’s Residence.

Have a great evening, and thank you for following and supporting this initiative with us.
