The Bay in Burlington Centre will shut its doors for good on February 9.
A representative from the Hudson's Bay Company confirmed the store will be closing for good in approximately two months.
The Bay on Guelph Line in 1991 was originally slated to close earlier this year.
The 145,000-sq.-ft., two storey store took up nearly one fifth of the retail space in the mall, and employed more than 100 people both full and part time.
Since it was announced the store was closing in July 2023, the store has had a continuous “closing soon” sale and has been primarily looking to empty what inventory remained.
“HBC continually looks at opportunities to optimize its real estate portfolio,” Tiffany Bourré, divisional vice president of communications, PR, and heritage for the Hudson’s Bay Company, in an emailed statement in July 2023. “Given the proximity of Burlington Centre just 3.5 km to Mapleview Shopping Centre, Hudson’s Bay has made the decision to close its Burlington Centre location in June 2024.”
