The Waterdown Village BIA Chairing is Caring program features 18 hand-painted Muskoka chairs that will be auctioned off in support of local charities. The Flamborough Connects chair, on display at Mill St. & 5 American House, was painted by Bhairavi Jathar Talpade and tells the story of immigrants arriving in Canada with nothing but a suitcase.

What a great Canada Day weekend in Flamborough! Thank you to all the amazing volunteers who helped at the Oh Canada Ribfest and the Lynden Canada Day celebration. What amazing community spirit we have in Flamborough!

Are you looking for an opportunity to volunteer in Flamborough? Flamborough Connects has a list of organizations accepting volunteers on the Flamborough Volunteers Current Opportunities page of the Flamborough Connects website. Be sure to check them out.

Chairing is Caring

Have you seen all the fantastically painted Muskoka chairs around Waterdown? Waterdown Village BIA is presenting “Chairing is Caring”, an exciting downtown art project celebrating local artists and telling stories of Waterdown Village’s diverse communities. Chairs will be on display all summer long and there is a QR code on each one with a link to the story of its artist on the Waterdown Village website.

Chairing is Caring is also a fundraiser: local nonprofits, like Flamborough Connects, Food with Grace, Flamborough Food Bank, Eagles Nest, Flamborough Women’s Resource Centre, Friends of Alexander Place, Healthy Youth Network and many more will all benefit from this event.

Want to own one of these beautiful chairs? Place a bid on your favourite until mid-September. Proceeds will benefit the community service organizations and the
winner gets to take the chair home. For more information, please visit the Chairing is Caring page on the BIA website.

Flamborough Connects is honoured to have a chair supporting our charity, sponsored by Mill St. & 5 American House. The image on the chair is painted by Bhairavi Jathar Talpade and tells the story of immigrants leaving their homes and arriving in Canada with nothing but a suitcase. It is a fabulous scene and a moving story to go with it. Stop by and see the chair at Mill St. & 5 American House and scan the QR code for more information. And look for all the other Chairing is Caring chairs spread throughout Waterdown!
