FLAMBOROUGH FUN: Here's what's going on around town Sept. 19-22

Ancaster Fair, Telling Tales and the YMCA community BBQ are just some of the fun events on the calendar

Autumn arrives this weekend - which means there are plenty of fun activities to fall into.

Here are a few community events to check out:

Friday, Sept. 20 

174th Ancaster Fair, Ancaster Fairgrounds, 630 Trinity Rd.

The fun kicks off Thursday evening (Sept. 19) from 5 to 9 p.m. then continues all weekend (Sept. 19-22). The event schedule includes a demolition derby, livestock and agriculture exhibits, live music and entertainment and a midway.  Weekend passes are available for $35 per adult, and single day admission is $13 per adult, with special pricing for children, youth and seniors. BBQ and Ice Cream night at the Flamborough YMCA, 207 Parkside Dr., Waterdown

Community BBQ runs from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. The Strabane Optimists are firing up the grill and bringing the community together for a fun-filled BBQ at the YMCA! Mr Cone will be bringing the ice cream truck. Everyone’s welcome! A portion of the proceeds support Flamborough YMCA programs.

Saturday, Sept. 20

The Mom Market at West Avenue Cider House, 84 8th Concession E., Freelton

Featuring 25 small businesses from Hamilton's Mom Market Collective from 12 to 4 p.m. at West Avenue Cider. Family fun, delicious eats, and shopping. Enjoy cozy vibes by the fire pit, sip on craft cider, and treat yourself to pizza while the kids enjoy free face painting from 1 to 3 p.m. Plus, enter our grand prize draw and grab some cool giveaways. Well-behaved, leashed pups are welcome! (Rain date: Sunday, Sept. 22).

Waterdown Car Show & Swap Meet - Rockton Fairgrounds, 812 Old Hwy. 8, Rockton

Show runs Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 20 and 21. Open to the public starting Friday at 11 a.m. and. Saturday at 7:30 a.m. Spectator admission: $10. Vehicle admission: $10. Hosted by Harold Watson Memorial. Info: (905) 971-5634.

Comedy Show starring Eric Johnston, Waterdown Legion, 79 Hamilton St. N.

Telling Tales Festival, Royal Botanical Gardens, 680 Plains Rd. W., Aldershot

Two full days of family fun and activities, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Hendrie Park. Admission is free. Schedule includes live music, presentation, vendors and much more. For more info visit the Telling Tales website

Sunday, Sept. 22

Tour de Dundas/Taste of Dundas, Dundas Driving Park, 71 Cross St.

Hosted by the Rotary Club of Dundas, riders can sign up to create their Tour de Dundas Gran Fondo fundraising page, then choose from five different routes. The tour winds up at the Dundas Driving Park, where the Taste of Dundas outdoor food court will be running from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (no registration required to visit Taste of Dundas).
