FLAMBOROUGH FUN: Here's what's on around town Dec. 20-22

Some great ideas to get out and have fun as we head into the holidays

Kids can make a Christmas craft at the Waterdown Library on Friday afternoon.

The days may be shorter, but there are plenty of holiday events planned around town to keep everyone busy. Here are a few community activities to check out this weekend.

Friday, Dec. 20

Holiday Craft Cart, Waterdown Library, 163 Dundas St. E.

From 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Bring your imagination to the table and make a cool holiday-themed creation to take home. Supplies provided.

Fish Fry, Waterdown Legion, 79 Hamilton St. N.

Join us 5 to 6:30 p.m. Order online from Dec. 13 to 19 at waterdownlegion.ca. Eat in or take out, walk-ins welcome. Cash only. One-piece dinner, $14; two-piece dinner $17. Dinners include haddock, fries and coleslaw. Entertainment by Mike Hubley - KountryFryd Music.

Saturday, Dec. 21

Longest Night Service, Freelton-Strabane United Church, 1565 Brock Rd. 

Service from 7 to 8 p.m. As we move towards the longest night of the year, the joy of Christmas can be overshadowed by pain from the loss of a loved one or challenges in life. Join us at Freelton Strabane United Church 1565 Brock Road Strabane for this special service; a time to own the grief of the season, light a candle and know that you are not alone.

Community Dance Party, Sheffield Community Centre, 2339 5th Concession W.

Admission $2 - Dance some light into the darkness at The Solstice Boogie, 7 p.m. to midnight. More info on Facebook
