Winter fun is still with us, as the calendar turns to March. Here are few cool things to check out around Flamborough this weekend:
Friday, Feb. 28
Waterdown Youth Dance, Waterdown Legion, 79 Hamilton St. N.
Winter Formal, doors open at 7 p.m., Dance runs from 7:30 to 11 p.m. For Grades 6, 7, and 8. Tickets available at the door. Cost is $15 per person, or $10 with a non-perishable food donation. Formal wear encouraged!
Saturday, March 1
Irish Supper, St. James United Church
A traditional meal of Irish beef stew, soda bread and apple cake, followed by a concert performance that promises to be a little bit Irish Hooley, a little bit classic rock, and more. The cost is $30 per adult, and $15 per youth (age 13 and under). Proceeds from the event support the St. James Benevolent Fund. For info call 905-689-6223 or email [email protected].
Sunday, March 2
Fletcher Creek in Winter, 3921 Concession Road 7 Puslinch
Hosted by the Hamilton Naturalists’ Club from join Bruce MacKenzie for a tour of the Fletcher Creek Ecological Preserve from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Bruce has been visiting this property for 40 years. He hopes to share its secrets with you. Dress for the weather. Depending upon weather, snowshoes may be an asset. Admission is free, registration required. Maple Syrup Season at Westfield Heritage Village, 1049 Kirkwall Rd., Rockton
Program runs Sundays, March 2, 9, 16, and 23 and on Wednesday, March 12 and Thursday, March 13 (March Break). Time slots are available starting at 10 a.m., with the last one available at 2 p.m. The program closes at 4 p.m. Reservations required.
