Hamilton Street Railway is hosting an open house this weekend to celebrate 150 years of service.

Hamilton Street Railway's (HSR) 150th anniversary festivities continue with a public open house this weekend.

The event takes place Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024 at the HSR Mountain Transit Centre at 2200 Upper James St.

The open house is free, and will allow give community members a chance to learn about HSR’s 150-year history, find our more about its daily operations and participate in a number of activities.

The fun kicks off at 11:30 a.m. with remarks from Hamilton Mayor Andrea Horwath; also in attendance will be City Manager Marnie Cluckie, Public Works General Manager Carlyle Khan and HSR Director of Transit Maureen Cosyn Heath. The open house will run until 3:30 p.m.

Food, refreshments and HSR 150 merchandise will also be available for purchase.

According organizers, there is limited onsite parking for the event; guests are encouraged to take an HSR bus to the Mountain Transit Centre, via the 20 A-Line or 27 Upper James Line. PRESTO fares are just $1.50 this Saturday.

Full event details are available on www.hamilton.ca/HSR150.
