The Rockton Lions celebrated a very special member at their Jan. 28 meeting.

Bill Hunter has provided 50 years of dedicated service to the club, which meets at the Beverly Community Centre. Hunter served as Club President in 1982 and has played a vital role in countless initiatives that have helped shape Rockton.

According to past president Doug Cassan, also a longtime Lions member, Hunter was one of the primary organizers of the club's successful annual fundraiser which serves up food at Will's Christmas Tree Farm (now Merry Farms) in Lynden each December.

"Bill has been a part of that for probably 20 years, a driving force in for that event," said Cassan. "Bill's been an active force in all of our events over the years, and we certainly appreciate all his contributions."

This milestone comes as the 60-member Rockton Lions Club celebrates 60 years of service, making it a fitting time to honour Hunter's outstanding contributions. "His dedication, leadership, and passion for helping others embody the true spirit of Lions Clubs International," the club noted in a press release.

"We extend our deepest gratitude to Bill for his decades of commitment and look forward to celebrating this achievement with him."
