There’s a reason why road signs are there; ignore them at your own peril.
That’s the message Halton police’s commercial motor vehicle unit is sharing in the wake of a lengthy response incident in Campbellville Wednesday.
Officers were called to an area along Twiss Road around mid-afternoon, when a fully-loaded 54,000 kg truck got stuck climbing the treacherous stretch.
The road has a clearly marked sign prohibiting trucks and buses from travelling on it.
The stretch of Twiss Road was closed for roughly three hours in order to remove the truck.
“So there’s a reason why roads have signs telling you it’s not a truck route,” says an officer on X (formerly Twitter).
The road signs are there for a reason, they are not optional. This guy took a 54000kg truck onto one of the steepest, tightest roads in the region. He then got stuck on the shoulder, closing the road for 3 hours while he was pulled out. "I was following my nav" @HaltonPolice ^MD pic.twitter.com/Lrsr4kGhBv
