Beatles fans, get ready to twist and shout: The Liverpool 4 are coming to town – and it’s all for a good cause.
The popular tribute band will take the stage at the Waterdown Legion on Saturday, Sept. 7 for a fundraiser organized by the St. Thomas Church conference of Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SSVD).
“Waterdown has never had something like this,” says Juliet Diamante. “The Liverpool 4 is a Canadian tribute band; they dress like them and the music is fantastic. We’re hoping to fill the Legion!”
Diamante noted tickets to see the group generally cost about $56; for the local fundraiser, the price of admission is $35. Just 400 tickets will be available.
Slices from Pizza by Johnny and snacks will be available and proceeds from the cash bar will be directed to SSVD. Garth Brown, a philanthropist and board member with De Mazenod Door at St. Patrick’s Church in downtown Hamilton, will speak about his work to provide housing for people living on the street in the city.
Diamante volunteers at De Mazenod Door, and has seen the growing need first hand. “We fed people chili and provided clothing last winter,” she noted. “It was really hard to see all these people in the cold.”
The aim is to raise $12,000 to support the Hamilton Alliance for Tiny Shelters (HATS) in their efforts to address the city’s housing crisis.
Diamante has been planning the local Liverpool 4 concert for about two years, and now she hopes to get the word out. Info has been posted around town, and she will be selling tickets at the Waterdown Farmers’ Market this Saturday (July 6).
