Every Tuesday morning, the Westover Artists take over the main room at the Waterdown Seniors Centre, transforming the space into one big art studio, complete with easels, paints of all types, and plenty of creativity.
And the community is invited to check out their work, at the Fall Art Show and Sale next Saturday.
According to Jean Stevens, who is helping to organize the show, there will be about 20 artists on site, with pieces done in a variety of media, including oils, acrylics, pastels and water colours. The genres are also diverse, covering landscapes, portraits and other subject matter, she added.
"There are paintings of all sizes, some are small, about six by six, and there are larger ones, and some do post cards, which are popular," Stevens said.
Members of the group are active in the local art scene, with many displaying and showing their work at area sales and exhibitions, or through their own websites. The weekly meetings, says Stevens, are a chance for the artists to socialize, and critique each other's work.
"It's an opportunity to paint together," she noted.
The Westover Artists Fall Show and Sale takes place Saturday, Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Waterdown Serniors Centre (in the Waterown Library building), 163 Dundas St. East.
