It is with sadness the family announces the end of our beloved father’s journey, WWII Veteran Reginald Herbert Brown in his 98th year on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024. Predeceased by the love of his life, cherished wife of 66 years Teresa (2018). Dearest father of his “Carolina Moon”, Reg’s pet name for adored daughter Carol Theriault (Tony 2009) and devoted sons Gary Brown, Mark and wife Susan Brown.
Reg led a wonderful life, born in Norwich, England to parents Ellen (Queenie) and William Brown. Reg was the youngest of four brothers and two sisters.
At the early age of 17, Reg enlisted in the British Royal Navy to serve a four-year deployment on the HMS Zodiac A Z Class Destroyer, along with the HMS Cadiz, a battle class destroyer. Dad’s military service medals included one from Vladimir Putin for his service on the Russian convoy in the Arctic Ocean.
Dad was a 40-year member of the Waterdown Legion, with his past military service allowing him and Teresa to travel to Dieppe on the Normandy coast of France for D-Day services.
Our father met our mother in Toronto where they were married in 1949. Three children followed while dad constructed two family homes built by his hardworking hands, all while employed at the Ford Motor Company, retiring after 33 years of service.
Reg and Teresa enjoyed traveling as well as their home life, full of family, raising farm animals and their quiet backyard time spent under a tree sipping brandy.
Dad’s retirement was filled with the love of his family and in pride of his seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, along with too many nieces and nephews to mention.
Always a gentleman, always with a smile, we lost a wonderful father and husband today. He set a shining example of the integrity of a good father. He will be missed beyond words.
As per Reg’s request, no funeral service will be held. Donations to the Legion of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

People you love are a family.
Having both is a blessing.”
