Peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 3 at the Carpenter Hospice, Burlington, with her family at her side, Beverley passed away at the age of 86 years. Bev was born on April 11, 1938 to Lyman and Violet Nelson in River Philip, Nova Scotia. Bev’s east coast roots stayed with her all her life. She will be deeply missed by her devoted husband Wayne. They had a storybook romance for 65 years. Loving mother of Michael (Judy) Heacock, Leanne (Tony) Grilli, and Christopher (Tricia) Heacock. Dear Grammy of Michelle, Ryan (Megan), David, Matthew, Joshua, and Hannah. Loved sister and sister-in-law of Ron† (Sandy) Nelson, Elaine (Gary†) Edwards, Vera (Bert†) Crevatin, Lyman (Pattie†) Nelson, Marilyn (Bob) Hatton, Faye† Powers, Gary Heacock, and Diane (Gordon) Maki. She will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.

Bev was a beautiful, loving, vibrant and courageous woman, who absolutely delighted in her family. She was a treasure to all her relatives and friends and so much fun to be around. Battling significant illness since the age of 50, Bev showed the strength of her spirit and loving loyalty to family by enduring and overcoming with grace and patience each challenge she faced. Bev wanted to acknowledge the tremendous love and support of her sister Marilyn and her good friend Pat Matthews. Together they bolstered her spirit and made her journey easier. Bev would also like to thank her amazing care team who were by her side the last 5 years. Dr. Lupo, caring and supportive family doctor. Dr Tozer, her oncologist, who never gave up on Bev. Dr. Shaw and Dr. Slavin who dealt with her symptoms compassionately. Dr. Turliuk, of Carpenter Hospice, who made her final journey comfortable. Also with her gratitude to nurses Brad, Mira, Franz, Tanya, Zahra and especially Nicole and PSW’s from St. Joe’s, Bayshore, and Paramed who all supported Bev over the years.

Cremation has taken place. A private family service was held with interment following at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. In just four days Carpenter Hospice made an impression on our hearts. Donations to the Carpenter Hospice would be appreciated by the family as expressions of sympathy. Please sign the Tribute Wall at kitchingsteepeandludwig.com
