Peacefully at Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington, on Thursday, December 12, 2024, Teen Syvret passed away at the age of 95 years. Beloved wife of the late Jim Syvret (2001). Loved mother of David and Colleen Syvret, Robert and Terri Syvret, Nancy and Scott Lawson, and Tina Syvret. Treasured grandmother of Davey (Megan), Danny (Whitney), Corey (Celina), Kaylyn (Leon), Bobby (Sam), Danny (Dana), and Tori (Riley). Adored great-grandmother of Hudson, Quinn, and Barrett Syvret, children of Danny and Whitney, and Alissa, Kaiya, and Kahlie, children of Davey and Megan. Dear sister and sister-in-law of “Chic” Thomson and Dorothy Thomson. Predeceased by her sisters Marjorie Shakespeare, Kathleen “Cassie” Thomson, and brothers Bill Thomson, Donald “Pete” Thomson, and Robert “Bob” Thomson.

Teen was born and raised in Waterdown, a town she cherished and called home throughout her life. Her deep love for the community was reflected in her dedication to serving others, balancing her busy family life with work for The Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, and the Joseph Brant Hospital auxiliary. She was a warm and welcoming presence, always known for her Friday hair appointments, which she never missed.

Afternoons by the pool surrounded by family brought her immense joy, and her passion for walking and bowling showcased her lively spirit. Teen had a special connection with animals, cherishing the family cats and dogs as if they were her own children. To Teen, every new experience or taste was “the best I’ve ever had,” a reflection of her grateful and enthusiastic heart. Her former home on Mill Street was no exception to her generosity, as it was always a welcoming space where friends and family could gather to enjoy a hot meal.

A lifelong sports fan, Teen passionately followed her son David and her grandsons, Davey, Danny, and Corey in their hockey pursuits, cheering them on at games locally and internationally. She also took great pride in supporting her granddaughter Tori’s achievements in gymnastics and equestrian show-jumping. Teen’s love of sports extended far beyond her family; she was a devoted season ticket holder for the Toronto Blue Jays, the Hamilton Tiger Cats, and the Toronto Maple Leafs, for many years.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of The Village Manor, her recent home, for their compassion, care, and love for Teen, and to the staff at Joseph Brant Hospital for their thoughtful support and kindness.

Cremation has taken place, and a private interment will follow at Waterdown Cemetery. The family will hold a private celebration of Teen’s life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, e-Transfer donations to Animal Adoptions of Flamborough ([email protected]) or to the Flamborough Hockey Association
([email protected]) would be greatly appreciated as expressions of sympathy. To share condolences, please sign the Tribute Wall at kitchingsteepeandludwig.com.
