After a long and blessed life, the Lord called into his eternal glory, our dear mother, oma, great-oma and great-great oma on Friday, August 2, 2024 at the age of 99. Her cheerful trust in the Lord and his promises continues to be an inspiration for all of us. She constantly urged us to count our blessings and not focus on negatives. She stoutly confessed: “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1)
She was the beloved wife of the late Schalk Van Dam for 56 years. Dear mother of Polly ten Brinke, Cornelis and Joanne Van Dam, Charlie and Lydia Van Dam, Barbara and Bernard Van Raalte, Henk and Janice Van Dam, Jenny and Frank Oostdyk, and Johanna and Ed Dokter. Loved Oma of 38 grandchildren and 118 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren. Predeceased by three sisters, Toos Kerkhof, Fré Bijl, and Annie van Rijswijk, one brother, Wim van Rijswijk, a son-in-law, Bill ten Brinke, a daughter-in-law, Wilma Van Dam and three granddaughters, Jenny, Elizabeth, and Kimberly.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, August 8, 2024 from 6-9 p.m. at REDEMPTION CANADIAN REFORMED CHURCH, 823 Safari Road, Millgrove, where the Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024 at 11 a.m. Rev. Dr. Cornelis Van Dam officiating. A livestream of the service is available through a link below. Reception will be held in the church hall. Private Family Interment Service beforehand at Garden Lane Cemetery.
