REPEAT OFFENDER PAROLE ENFORCEMENT

TORONTO -  The Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad would like to advise the public that a federal offender who went unlawfully at large on March 14, 2024, has been apprehended in Toronto.

 Derek Oppong was located and arrested by members of the Toronto Police Service.

 Oppong is serving a 10-year, one- day sentence for;

  • Unauthorized possession / firearm
  • Kidnap - unlawfully confine - firearm
  • Extortion - use firearm
  • Commission of offence for criminal organization
  • Possession of firearm knowing unauthorized
  • Possession weapon contrary to prohibition order
  • Forcible confinement

The Provincial ROPE Squad would like to thank the public and the media for their assistance in this investigation.
