A Hamilton male has been arrested after a carjacking in East Hamilton.
On Jan. 31, between 8 to 9 a.m. Hamilton Police received reports of four robberies that occurred in the areas of Centre Mall, Cochrane Road, Queenston Road and Britannia Avenue.
In each incident, the accused attempted to steal the victims’ vehicles by demanding their keys, threatening violence, and in one incident by brandishing a weapon.
The accused was successful in stealing one vehicle which was recovered at a Central Hamilton location.
We thank the public for their assistance in providing video surveillance footage. As a result of the investigation, a 24-year-old Hamilton man, Cody Atkinson, has been identified and charged.
The accused was arrested by Hamilton Police on Tuesday on an outstanding warrant for theft (vehicle), possession of property, and breaching probation conditions. He was subsequently charged with all related offences.
