UPDATE: Police say driver in hit-and-run has turned himself in

UPDATE:

Hamilton Police Service say they have charged a Hamilton driver in relation to a fail to remain collision.

On Sunday at around 5:42 a.m. a collision occurred in the southbound lane of Queen Street South, south of Aberdeen Avenue in Hamilton.

An individual was located on the roadway with serious head injuries and investigation revealed that the individual had been struck by a vehicle, police said in a release.

The victim was transported to the Hamilton General Hospital by EMS with critical, life threatening injuries. The involved vehicle failed to remain at the scene.

On Monday, a 61-year-old Hamilton driver turned himself in to the Hamilton Police Service and has been charged with failing to remain to cause bodily harm under the Criminal Code of Canada.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 18.

Police in Hamilton are investigating a hit-and-run early this morning that left a pedestrian with life-threatening injuries.

Police were looking for anyone with dashcam footage from the Queen Street South area.

On Sunday, Oct. 13, 2024, at approximately 5:42 a.m. a collision occurred in the southbound lane of Queen Street South, south of Aberdeen Avenue, in the City of Hamilton.

An individual was located on the roadway with serious head injuries and investigation revealed that the individual had been struck by a motor vehicle.

The individual was transported to the Hamilton General Hospital by EMS with critical, life threatening injuries. The involved vehicle failed to remain at the scene.

At this time, the police are seeking any potential witnesses to this incident and urge anyone with information to come forward. 

Investigators are also requesting any motorists in the area at the time of the collision to check their dash cameras to review their camera footage.
