Victim urged to come forward after early morning shooting in Hamilton's east end

Hamilton Police are investigating a shooting that occurred in the area of Gage Avenue South and King Street East on September 7, 2024, at approximately 2:00 a.m. after receiving 911 calls for possible shots fired.

Police immediately responded to the area and located evidence that confirmed a shooting had occurred but the victim and involved suspect or suspects had fled the area. At this time, police have not confirmed whether anyone sustained injuries.

The Shooting Response Team has been called in to investigate and will be in the area of Gage Avenue South and King St East to canvass for witnesses. It has been reported that multiple shots were fired.

Hamilton Police forensics have attended and processed the scene.

Anyone with video from the area is asked to check their cameras for any evidence of suspicious activity and/or fleeing vehicles from 1:45 a.m. to 2:15 a.m.

Investigators have determined that a Hamilton Cab was involved in this incident and transported the alleged victim to and from the scene. This taxi has been located. Investigators are appealing for the involved victim to come forward and speak to police.
