Second-degree murder charge laid in downtown Hamilton stabbing death

Investigators say some of the details surrounding the March 16 incident are still unclear

Hamilton Police have made an arrest in one of the City’s latest homicides.

On Sunday March 16, 2025 at approximately 3:45 PM the Hamilton Police Service were dispatched to a 911 call in the area of Hunter Street East and Spring Street. 

Upon arrival, officers located Charles “Jacques” Jouvence on the porch of his home suffering from a stab wound. 

Jouvence succumbed to his injuries and the Homicide Unit was called in to continue the investigation. 

On Sunday March 23, 2025, Hamilton Police investigators arrested 30-year-old David Gomez-Rodriguez of no-fixed-address for 2nd degree murder.

Some of the details surrounding this incident are still unclear and it is believed that the accused and Jouvence were not known to each other. 

Gomez-Rodriguez will appear in court on Tuesday March 25, 2025.

The interaction between the two at the time of the incident is still under investigation.
