Suspicious person call at Limeridge Mall ends in foot pursuit, arrests

On Nov. 3, 2024, Hamilton Police attended Limeridge Mall for a suspicious person. This was related to a prior call of individuals who had been reported shoplifting from a store at the mall the day prior.

The responding officers saw the involved vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The 26-year-old female driver of the vehicle failed to stop and fled but inadvertently drove into a dead end street and was forced to stop. The 25-year-old male passenger fled from the vehicle and officers entered into a foot pursuit. During the course of this pursuit, the male discarded a loaded handgun into a garbage can in a park. This gun was recovered. Thanks to our quick thinking and spry officers the individual was located and arrested a short distance away.

Anthony Cosic of Hamilton, was charged with: 

  1. Fail to Comply Release Order x3
  2. Possession of a Prohibited Firearm 
  3. Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was Firearm
  4. Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm

Shadia Yusuf Noor of Hamilton, was charged with: 

  1. Disobey Court Order x2 
  2. Flight from Peace Officer 
  3. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
