Waterdown Village is lighting up Black Friday on November 29 with a tree lighting and community activities to celebrate the start of the holiday season in this beautiful heritage downtown.

“Winterdown Lights runs from 4 to 8 p.m. November 29, with the tree lighting being the culmination at 7:15 p.m.,” explained Amanda Groves, Chair of the Waterdown Village BIA.

“We are excited to provide horse drawn wagon rides, lots of holiday musical entertainment from multiple acts, delicious hot treats from food vendors and restaurants, and of course many fantastic Black Friday specials from our downtown merchants.”

In addition, Waterdown Village is sponsoring kids’ and other activities inside Memorial Hall, for the duration of the event.

“There is a live gingerbread house making contest, different kids’ activities, a special wreathmaking workshop, and a mini-interactive market experience,” said Groves. “And of course, Santa will be there to greet all the children who come out!”

Holiday celebrations will continue in Waterdown Village on December 7 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with the Winterdown Kids event. “This is the day the village focuses the magic of the season on the little ones,” said Groves.

“All the fun takes place upstairs at the Royal Canadian Legion. There will be a singalong with Mr. Ben and a magic show with Alan Q.”

‘We hope everyone will be able to come out and celebrate the magic of the holiday season with all of us here at Waterdown Village,” said Groves. “We love the holiday season! Come out, shop local, and celebrate with us!
