What an amazing scarecrow season it was in Waterdown: more than 120 local businesses and community organizations, including Flamborough Connects, participated in the 2024 Scarecrow Walk throughout October.
It was an amazing adventure walking through the streets, seeing all the interesting and creative scarecrows and finding all of the monster cards! And last Saturday's Treat Walk was a fun fall family event. Flamborough Connects was thrilled to hand out treats at Turkstra Lumber Waterdown. Congratulations to Waterdown Village BIA for an amazing Scarecrow Walk and Treat Walk!
Next week, Flamborough Connects will be proudly laying a wreath at the Remembrance Day service on Nov. 11 at the Waterdown Legion. We are honoured to
recognize the sacrifices of our veterans across Canada as well as those from Waterdown and Flamborough who have served our country.
It’s also Snow Angels season at Flamborough Connects. Our Snow Angels volunteers shovel the public sidewalk, the path to the door and windrow left by the plow for Waterdown seniors or adults with a disability and who live on a low income. Snow Angels provide a safe path through the snow into the residence and keep seniors compliant with snow clearing bylaws.
If you would like to be a Snow Angel volunteer, or for more information about the Snow Angels program, please connect with us at 905-689-7880 or [email protected].
Did you know the City of Hamilton also offers a financial subsidy to senior and disabled residents to help them meet the requirements of the City of Hamilton Sidewalk Snow Clearing By-law? The subsidy can be used to pay for snow removal needed to clear the sidewalk and to provide safe walking access to the front door and through the snow-plow windrow. Applications will be accepted starting Nov. 1, and can be found on the City of Hamilton’s website or by calling 905-540-5711.
Residents can receive volunteer Snow Angels shoveling from Flamborough Connects or the City of Hamilton snow clearing subsidy, but not both.
