Flamborough Connects would like to give the community a big thank you for its support last year.

Flamborough Connects extends a heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported our 2024 Holiday Gift Program. Thanks to your generosity, we successfully wrapped and delivered 187 holiday gifts to seniors in Flamborough, marking a 31 per cent increase from last year.

We are incredibly grateful to our community partners for helping distribute wish lists, as well as to everyone who participated in our Holiday Gift Wrapping Day and contributed to the monumental task of wrapping all those gifts.

Special thanks to A&W in East Waterdown for generously donating burgers and fries to fuel our hardworking gift wrappers. A massive shout-out to everyone who donated a gift this year – your kindness made this program possible. We couldn’t have achieved this success without the amazing support from our community.

Thank you, Flamborough, for making this another incredibly successful Holiday Gift Program.

A heartfelt thank you to our donors

Flamborough Connects is deeply grateful for the generous donations we received in 2024 from individuals, organizations, and businesses. As we do not have ongoing funding, we rely on grants and donations to continue providing our free and low-cost programs and services to Flamborough residents.

A special thank you to our anonymous matching funds donor during Giving Season, and to the Hamilton Police Retirees Association for your generous contribution. Your support makes everything we do possible, and we couldn’t do it without you.

A heartfelt thanks to our placement student

Flamborough Connects is excited to have partnered with Mohawk College and the Social Service Worker program to host a placement student this fall. A special thank you to Georgia for her incredible work during her placement.

Congratulations, Georgia, and we wish you all the best!

Start the New Year with a healthy choice

The New Year is here, and Flamborough Connects is kicking it off with a free Education Session. Join us on Wednesday, January 29 at 10:00a.m. at Freelton Strabane United Church for a Heart Smart Eating workshop. Michelle from the Hamilton Family Health Team will lead this informative session, where you’ll learn lifestyle choices to help manage cholesterol, blood pressure and reduce your risk of heart disease.

To register for this free workshop, email us at [email protected] or call 905-689-7880. Also, stay tuned for upcoming sessions on Frauds and Scams, and Taking the HSR and DARTS later this winter.

Snow Angels in action

Flamborough Connects’ Snow Angels have already been hard at work this winter. This dedicated group of volunteers helps low-income seniors and adults with disabilities in Waterdown who are unable to shovel their own driveways. Snow Angels assist after snowfalls of 3 cm or more by clearing the public sidewalk, the path to the door, and the windrow left by the snowplow.

Want to help? We’re looking for more Snow Angel volunteers. This is a fantastic opportunity for students (you can shovel alone or with a friend), families, and adults. Volunteer hours are available for students. If you’re interested in becoming a Snow Angel, contact us at [email protected] or call 905-689-7880 to learn more.
