FlamboroughToday received the following letter about Ontario's child welfare system.
Jessica Smith Cross's recent account of the province's child welfare system ("As Ford plans children’s aid 'audit,’ families of high-needs kids plead for real change") is a wonderful example of what good journalism can achieve.
Her research and analysis of the system's deficiencies, and the profound impact they have on some of the most vulnerable people in our province, calls for an immediate response from the Ontario government, and not an audit. We know what is not working, and why this is the case -- what is lacking is political will from the Ford administration.
Thank you for the article, and for remembering that good journalism comforts the afflicted, and afflicts the comfortable.
