The third annual Festival of Floats will be coming to Kilbride Park on Saturday, Nov. 23, to both spread holiday cheer and remember important members of the community who have passed away in recent years.
The stationary parade was started in memory of Maureen Trenkler, a member of the Kilbride community who brought the community together. Findlay van der Werken, a 16-year-old who passed away earlier this year, is also being remembered through the parade to thank him for his work volunteering with the parades and engaging with the younger members of the community.
Mayor Marianne Meed Ward plans to attend the parade and will be joined by the Kilbride Volunteer Firefighters. Local residents are encouraged to create their own floats of any shape or size to join in the fun and compete for prizes for the best floats at the parade.
The Festival of Floats starts at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23 at Kilbride Park.
