Grace Anglican Church is hosting a special theatrical performance next Sunday afternoon, and the community is invited.
The play, Head in the Game, features the talents of Cambridge-based Penny & Pound Theatre Productions. The show was written by Lori J. Distel and Piper Robinson Distel based on the unpublished memoir of their father and husband, Joseph Distel.
Described as “a comedy about dying,” the play recently played several nights at the Kitchener-Waterloo Little Theatre. It features Dr. Silas Merryweather, who is struck down with a brain tumour in the prime of his life. His assistant, Harriet, signs Silas up for a program called Homies for Hospice, where he meets Frankie. She’s 12 and a half – and even more cynical than Silas. They form an unlikely and beautiful friendship.
“Head in the Game is a witty and emotional tale about the beauty of companionship in times of trouble,” according to the Penny & Pound website.
The showtime for Head in the Game is Sunday, March 9 at 2:30 p.m. and refreshments will be served at intermission. The show is appropriate for audiences 13 and up. Admission is by free-will offering. To reserve tickets, email [email protected].
