The family and friends of Irma Galastica haven't heard from her since Aug. 31, and they are concerned for her safety.
Galastica was last seen on Aug. 30, and both Halton and Toronto police have put out missing persons reports for her.
“She has a daughter who she loves a lot, we just want to bring her home to her family,” said a close friend of Galastica who asked not to be named.
The 32-year-old from Toronto was last seen at a Hamilton club called Sankofa Restaurant & Lounge. Those close to her believe she traveled from there to a rural Burlington property shortly after. She has not been seen or heard from since.
Galastica’s friends and family have access to her Snapchat account, and say the last time she used the app was Aug. 31 at 1:54 p.m. somewhere in Burlington. Several Instagram accounts that appear to be associated with Galastica, which feature videos on fitness, healthy eating and personal branding, were active until about Aug. 22.
Galastica’s cousin Maria says in spite of the situation, her family is planning to gather for Thanksgiving dinner.
“We want her to come home safe, her daughter wants her to come home safe,” Maria said. “It’s just heartbreaking for my entire family. Her birthday is coming up soon, I can’t stop thinking about that. We’re going to get together on Saturday for Thanksgiving, but it’s not going to be the same.”
Both Maria and Galastica's friend are pleading with the public for any additional information, and say they've already received some intel through social media.
The family has spoken with police multiple times, and are thankful for the work that has been done so far.
“It’ll be six weeks this Friday, and that’s a long time for someone to be missing,” Maria said. “We appreciate the work that the police force is doing, and we think the public can definitely help. If anyone does have any information, even if they think it’s not important, it may help bring someone home.”
Halton Police said they are unable to comment on the case.
"I have spoken with the officers involved in the Missing Persons investigation and we won’t be able to provide any additional details at this time," Ryan Anderson, the service's media relations officer, said.
Toronto Police Service released a missing person statement for Galastica on Sept. 14, describing her as 5’5”, medium build with black shoulder-length hair. Halton police posted a missing person release on Sept. 27, and again on Oct. 7.
Anyone with information about Galastica is asked to call 911 or the Halon police non-emergency line at 905 825 4777.
