It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas around town, and there is still plenty of community fun to be had. Here are a few events worth checking out this weekend
Saturday, Dec. 14
Holiday Breakfast, Knox Church, 80 Mill St. N., Waterdown
From 8 to 10:30 a.m., volunteers will be serving up eggs, toast and pancakes, juice and coffee. Cost is $10 per adult, $5 per child under 12.
Freelton Firefighters Toy Drive, Freelton Fire Station, 1801 Brock Rd.
From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. See the fire trucks and meet the firefighters. Hot dogs will be on the grill starting at 10:30 a.m. for cash donations to Ronald McDonald House. RMHC has asked for donations of new, unwrapped items: baby toys, umbrellas, colouring books, teen gifts, movie theatre gift cards. Also collecting non-perishable items for the Flamborough Food Bank.
Choral concert, St. Paul’s United Church, 29 Park St. W., Dundas
A choral evening from 7:30 to 10 p.m. featuring both Vivaldi's and John Rutter's "Gloria." Plus carols and a holiday market!
Live music, Waterdown Legion, 79 Hamilton St. N.
Enjoy the sounds of the Somekind Band from 8 p.m. to midnight. Cover charge $5. Please also bring along a non-perishable food item for the Flamborough Food Bank.
Sunday, Dec. 15
Campbellville Santa Claus Parade, Downtown Campbellville
Beginning at 1:30 p.m., the parade runs from Reid Side Road, onto Crawford Crescent, through to Main Street/Guelph Line, south to Campbell Avenue and west back to the assembly area on Strokes Trail. Spectators can bring along a non-perishable donation for the food bank.
Christmas in the Woods, Westfield Heritage Village, 1049 Kirkwall Rd., Rockton
Program runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 8 and 15. The Village will be decorated for the season and there will be delightful activities inside and out. Christmas baking, carol singing, Father Christmas, and a model train diorama will delight visitors. Dress for the weather and enjoy the great outdoors with wagon rides, free popcorn, scavenger hunt, and a lovely walk in the winter forest. Then warm up by the roaring fire, while enjoying some old-fashioned Christmas treats. The General Store and Gift Shop will be open, and the Ironwood will have delicious light refreshments available.
