Halloween fun is in full swing this weekend, with plenty of spooky activities on the calendar. Here are a few ideas to have fun in the community.
Thursday, Oct. 24
Spaghetti Dinner, Knox Church Waterdown, 80 Mill St. N.
Full spaghetti dinner will be served from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Cost is $15 per person. The event will raise funds to purchase projection equipment for the church. All welcome.
Friday, Oct. 25
Poppy Campaign launch, Waterdown Legion, 79 Hamilton St. N.
Local Legion members will raise the Poppy Flag at a 10:30 a.m. ceremony to kick off this year's poppy campaign. Coffee and light refreshments will be served afterwards inside the Legion. All veterans in the community are invited to join Legion members for fellowship.
Saturday, Oct. 26
A Time for Women, Knox Church Waterdown, 80 Mill St. N.
Event starts at 10 am and features Liz Michaels, who will be speaking about “How to pamper your houseplants”, and Sylvia Horvath who will be speaking about “My life with God”. Music provided by Gwynne Lannen. All women welcome, no charge for admission, free will offering will be collected.
Treat and Pet Walk, downtown Waterdown, multiple locations
Families are invited to dress up and walk the streets of downtown Waterdown from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participating businesses will be handing out treats. Visit the Legion of Heroes, the Monster Pit, and the Pet Parade. Face painting, balloons and other activities, and check out the Scarecrow Walk. Full details are on the BIA website.
Halloween Pumpkin Party, Westfield Heritage Village, 1049 Kirkwall Rd., Rockton
Saturday, Oct. 26 and Sunday, Oct. 27, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pumpkin-themed activities, Halloween games, crafts, a showcase of carved pumpkins in the barn, a pumpkin slingshot and tractor rides. Visitors of all ages are welcome to dress up, especially in historical and steampunk costumes. The Copetown Lions food truck will be on-site, and the Gift Shop will be open. Reservation Fee: $10, Vehicle Fee: $11, Per Person Fee: $5. Ages 5 and under are free. Visit the event website to reserve a spot.
Monster Trucks All Out Flamboro Speedway, 873 5th Concession W.
Monster Trucks All Out Tour, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Come see nationally recognized Monster Trucks Bucking Bronco, Wadded Up, Canadian Crusher, and others battling head to head in nonstop action. Bark at the Moon Howl-o-ween Market, West Avenue Cider House, 84 8th Concession E.
Cider, tacos, costume contests, raffles and prizes. Admission is free. Food, beverages, shopping and other activities individually priced. Proceeds support Howl at the Moon animal shelter.
