Carlisle United Church is hosting a paper shredding fundraiser this Saturday.

Looking for some fun fall activities to stir things up this weekend? Here are a few ideas for getting of the house:

Friday, Oct. 18

Youth Dance Halloween Party, Waterdown Legion, 79 Hamilton St. N.

This month's dance is fundraiser for Sabres U12AA team. The dance takes place from 7:30 to 11 p.m. For grades 6, 7, 8. The cost is $20, with $5 donated to the team. Cash only event. Costume contest, prizes, music, snack bar.

Saturday, Oct. 19

Fibre art Workshop at Laureate College, 1921 Snake Road

Open house from 9:30 to 11 a.m., fibre art class led by Ixchel Suarea from 11 a.m. to noon. Cost is free, registration required. Sign up on the Laureate College website.

Wills, Power of Attorney and Estate Planning, Knox Church, 80 Mill St. N. Waterdown

This month's Can We Help education session focuses on Wills, Power of Attorney and Estate planning. Seminar runs from 10 to 11:45 a.m. A representative from RBC Wealth Management will talk about topics such as tax probate and the importance of communicating our wishes to loved ones. Tim Hortons coffee and Timbits will be provided. Cost to attend is free, but space is limited. Register at [email protected] or call 905-689-8115.

Paper shredding fundraiser, Carlisle United Church, 1492 Centre Rd., Carlisle

Event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Suggested donation of $5 per grocery bag or $10 per banker’s box. Secure shredding provided on site by Papersavers. 

Craft sale, Flamborough Seniors Centre, 163 Dundas St. E., Waterdown

The Annual Craft Sale runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Flamborough Seniors Centre downstairs at the Waterdown library. There will be a wide variety of one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted, easy-on- the-pocketbook gifts for everyone.

Killin' Time Band, Waterdown Legion, 79 Hamilton S. N.

Live music from 8 p.m. to midnight. Join the band as they celebrate their 20th anniversary. $5 cover charge, donations accepted for the local food banks.

Sunday, Oct. 20

British Car Show and Flea Market, Rockton Fairgrounds, 812 Old Hwy. 8

Hosted by the Austin Healey Club of Southern Ontario and the British Sports Car Club of Hamilton, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Admission is $8, kids under 18 get in free. Lunch counter, plenty of free parking.
