Flamborough is under a flood watch until New Year’s Day, says the Hamilton Conservation Authority.
With heavy rains over the weekend continuing into Monday and Tuesday, the authority says water levels in the area’s rivers, lakes and streams will be high. The authority said it expects low lying areas to flood.
HCA said it is monitoring watercourses and the watershed closely while the rain continues.
It said it expects the flood watch to end around 4:30p.m. on January 1.
The authority is reminding residents to be careful near bodies of water, bridges and culverts and be aware of high water levels, fast moving water, changing levels of flow, unsafe ice and slippery banks. The authority asks adults to watch children and pets closely.
On Sunday Flamborough saw around 40mm of rain, and an additional 5 to 10mm is expected on Tuesday.
