Flamborough Connects Executive Director Colleen Stinson says delivering to 186 people registered with the Holiday Gift Program is one of her proudest accomplishments this year.

As we head into a brand new year, FlamboroughToday asked local community leaders five questions about their thoughts on 2024 and their hopes for 2025. Today, Flamborough Connects Executive Director Colleen Stinson reflects on the past year, and her wish for next 12 months.

What is your proudest accomplishment of 2024?

Professionally, I have two proudest accomplishments of 2024. The first is the launch of the Flamborough Community Guide in the summer and the second is distributing an amazing 186 gifts in the 2024 Holiday Gift Program, how we kept everything organized, and the fantastic time we all had at the Holiday Wrapping Day!

Personally, my proudest accomplishment of 2024 is always my two amazing daughters.

What was a significant learning experience for you in 2024?

My most significant learning experience is also my most humbling, which is when Flamborough residents, especially seniors, connect with us to tell us the impact that Flamborough Connects has on their lives, and how much they like and appreciate what Flamborough Connects does in Flamborough.

What do you see as the biggest challenge facing Flamborough/Hamilton in 2025?

The biggest challenge I see facing Flamborough in 2025 is the economy and the number of residents who rely on the services of food banks, the free services of Flamborough Connects, and the services of other community organizations.

What is your top wish for 2025?

My top wish for 2025 is for happiness for everyone.  It sounds so simple but if everyone can find happiness, even just a little bit, then happiness grows and expands and is shared.  If we all find a little more happiness every day, then we all live in a happier world.

Do you have any New Year's resolutions for the community you'd like to share?

I don’t believe in making New Year’s resolutions. Rather, I believe in constantly striving to be a better version of myself.  “True nobility isn’t about being better than someone else. It’s about being better than you used to be.” – Wayne Dyer
