If you've got New Year's plans out of town, here's a great tip: all GO Train service will be free tomorrow night for the holiday, Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024.
Metrolinx has annoucned that they will be providing free GO Train and UP Express service to all customers on New Years Eve starting at 7 p.m. until the end of regular service that night (or early morning of Jan. 1, 2025.)
The annual program is sponsored "in partnership with Forty Creek Whisky" and runs for the second year in a row.
This partnership between the two organizations began last year, and Metrolinx says that Union Station saw an 18 per cent increase in ridership on New Years Eve to "insure that commuters got home safely."
"We saw the impact from last year's partnership and we're proud to continue encouraging responsible consumption and affordable, safe transportation through GO Transit and UP Express," said David Allard, Vice President of Marketing at Campari Canada.
Before commuters head to their New Years Eve celebrations, Forty Creek and Metrolinx will remind their customers about the free rides that will be given out at Metrolinx stations.
