Collision near Lynden sends cyclist to hospital with critical injuries

On Wednesday, Oct. 16, at approximately 1:40 p.m., the Hamilton Police Service responded to a collision involving a Volvo motor vehicle and a cyclist in the intersection of Concession 2 Road West and Inksetter Road in Flamborough.

A 28-year-old female from Sudbury, who is a post-secondary student in Hamilton, was riding northbound on Inksetter Road when she failed to stop for the stop sign at Concession 2 West and was struck by the Volvo, which was being driven by a 22-year-old male from Dundas.

The driver of the Volvo remained at the scene and is co-operating with investigators.

The cyclist was transported to hospital and is listed in critical but stable condition.

Speed and driver impairment have been ruled out.

Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate and are actively seeking any potential witnesses. Investigators are also requesting any motorists in the area at the time of the collision to check their dash cameras and any residences or businesses in the area with cameras to review their footage.
