Hamilton Police are actively investigating the ongoing surge in shootings across the city and have made five recent arrests in connection with these incidents.

Since becoming a permanent unit at Hamilton Police Service, the Shooting Response Team (SRT) has arrested 30 individuals and laid 196 charges in non-fatal shootings in Hamilton. There have been a record 54 shootings in the city so far this year, with 48 of those shootings assigned to the SRT for investigation.

“We cannot become complacent about gun violence in our city. We need people to speak up and speak out when they see something suspicious in their neighbourhoods,” says Superintendent Marty Schulenberg.
