Flamborough Connects staff and volunteers cooked up lunch every Friday this summer for a good cause: all proceeds support community programming.

Thank you, Flamborough!

Thanks to Turkstra Lumber, Sobeys Flamborough and all the people who came out to enjoy the “Best Burger in Town”. Flamborough Connects exceeded our goal and raised $6,737.75 in our Friday Fundraising BBQs this season.

This money will help fund the free and low-cost programs and services of Flamborough Connects, a local registered charity providing Senior Services, Community Services and Volunteer Services.

Healthcare planning

Are you prepared for critical moments in your healthcare? Flamborough Connects is proud to present an Education Session on Advanced Care Planning, a lifelong process of thinking and talking about the kind of health and/or personal care you would want if – at some point in your life – you cannot speak for yourself.

This session is presented by Carpenter Hospice and will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 1:30 to  3:30 p.m. at Flamborough Baptist Church, 41 Concession 5 East, Waterdown.

Volunteer opportunities

Are you looking for volunteer opportunities in your community? Flamborough Connects is looking for volunteer drivers for Flamborough Drives to take seniors on outings throughout Flamborough for shopping and errands.

We are also looking for a Food Bank Delivery Driver for West Flamborough on alternate Wednesday afternoons beginning in November. Connect with us for
more information or to apply as a volunteer!

Community guide

Flamborough Connects proudly presents the brand new Flamborough Community Guide! This comprehensive guide offers information on resources, services and supports within Flamborough.

Perfect for residents who are new to Flamborough or looking for local resources. The print version is ideal for seniors or those without access to the internet. View the PDF on our website, or pick up a print copy from the Flamborough Connects office in the Waterdown Library building, 163 Dundas St. E., Waterdown.

Senior entrepreneur program

Are you 50 years or older? Do you have a great business idea? Have you always wanted to run your own business and be your own boss? Flamborough Connects has a great opportunity for you!

In partnership with McMaster University’s Reframery, Flamborough Connects is proud to present the Senior Entrepreneur Training Program. This free program is aimed at seniors aged 50 and over and will provide entrepreneurial training to help participants learn how to run a successful small business.

The program is delivered entirely online, making it easier to access the training you need. Additional support is available for participants who need to learn to use Zoom or work with online resources.

Training starts soon! Connect with us for more information or to secure your spot at [email protected] or 905-689-7880.

Colleen Stinson is the Executive Director of Flamborough Connects and a lifelong Flamborough resident.
