FlamboroughToday received the following Letter to the Editor from reader Jim Goodlad, in regards to the traffic lights at Parkside Dr. and southbound Hwy 6:

The lights at Parkside Dr. and southbound Hwy 6 are a potential death trap.

On two occasions I have been chased through this intersection by very fast moving heavy trucks. The flashing warning lights come on exactly the same time as the amber lights come on at the intersection and the amber is too short to stop in time for these trucks moving at well over the speed limit.

On these two occasions I was travelling southbound when the flashing warning lights came on. I looked in the rear view mirror and saw a tractor trailer bearing down on me and there was no way he could stop so through the fresh red light I went with the truck following right behind me.

Had I stopped and it wouldn't have been easy, I'd surley be a statistic.

The flashing warning lights should come on BEFORE the amber or have a much longer amber.

I've contacted the O.P.P. about this but nothing has been done.

Jim Goodlad,
Millgrove, Ont.
