Police seek witnesses to fatal 2-vehicle crash in Waterdown

Police say driver was in medical distress when officers arrived at the scene

Hamilton Police continue to investigate the two-vehicle collision that occurred on Dundas Street East and Avonsyde Boulevard Tuesday night.

Hamilton Police received 911 calls just after 11 p.m. on July 23, reporting a collision involving a black Dodge Ram and a white Toyota Corolla. The 42-year-old driver of the Dodge Ram was transported to the hospital, where they were pronounced deceased.  

Police say Investigators have determined that the Dodge Ram was travelling eastbound on Dundas Street and crossed into the westbound lanes, striking the Toyota and coming to rest when it struck a light standard on the north shoulder of Dundas Street. Two people from the Toyota Corolla were also transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Hamilton police media relations officer Const. Krista-Lee Ernst said officers observed that the person in the Dodge Ram was in medical distress when they arrived. 

The cause of the collision is currently under investigation and police are actively seeking any potential witnesses and urge anyone with information to come forward.  Investigators are also requesting that any motorists in the area from 11 p.m. to 11:20 p.m. check their dash cameras and any residences or businesses in the area with surveillance cameras to review their camera footage.
