Ten new snow plows will soon be hitting the streets in Hamilton - and they all need names.

Last year's top vote-getters were Snowmoni Lawrence, Taylor Drift and Say it Ain't Snow.

The Name the Plow initiative is all in good fun, but residents are reminded that snow clearing in Hamilton in serious business. With each upcoming winter weather event, City of Hamilton road crews are responsible for clearing approximately:

  • 6,522 kilometres of roadway

The City is able to accomplish this with 115 City plows, more than 300 contracted pieces of plowing equipment and 34 sidewalk plows.

The Name the Plow survey is open until Jan. 5. The 10 winning names will be revealed during the week of Jan. 13.
