A little rain won't stop the Lynden Lions from helping local kids in need.

The local service club was set to host its annual Children’s Fund golf tournament at the Brant Valley Golf Club on July 20, but had to postpone due to heavy rain that left the St. George golf course under water.

The new date for the tournament is Saturday, August 10.

The day kicks off with registration at 11 a.m. and a shotgun start at noon.

According to the Lynden Lions website, the club started the tourney more than 10 years ago to raise funds to purchase a special wheelchair for a local child with disabilities. It was so successful, and there was such a need in the community, they decided to continue it as an annual event.

The money they raise each year supports Lions Camps, local school initiatives and kids in the community who have critical needs.

The cost to sign up is $140 and it includes golfing, a goodie bag and food coupons, a cart, prizes, and a steak dinner at the Lions Den afterwards. Dinner-only tickets are available for $35.
