A west Flamborough home was destroyed by fire early this morning.

Hamilton fire crews were dispatched to a structure fire near Christie’s Corners, at Neff Road and Middletown Road, just before 4 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 12).

According to Hamilton Fire Assistant Deputy Chief Ryan Coburn, the blaze was fully involved when crews arrived at the scene. In total, nine apparatus responded from the Dundas, Ancaster, Greensville, Waterdown, Lynden and Rockton stations, along with one command officer and two support officers.

No one was at home at the time, noted Coburn, and there were no injuries to first responders working on the fire.

While an estimate of the damage is not yet available, “it appears that the house is lost due to extensive damage,” said Coburn in an email.

The cause of the fire is not yet known; Hamilton Police were called in to investigate.
